Biography

Maria Paschou is a Senior Associate at Calavros Law Firm – Filios – Kloukinas since 2026.

Maria has graduated with an LL.B. from the Democritus University of Thrace and further holds postgraduate degrees (LL.M.) in Public International Law (University of Athens) and International Dispute Settlement (Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies and the University of Geneva), graduating amongst the top 5% in her classes for both programmes.

She has extensive experience in international and domestic dispute settlement, focusing on international commercial and investment treaty arbitration. She has successfully advised and represented clients in high-stake arbitration and litigation matters, ranging from investment treaty cases to contractual disputes across the construction, energy and natural resources, retail and consumer goods, and telecom sectors. Maria has handled cases under various applicable laws and the auspices of various leading arbitration institutions, including ICC, LCIA, ICSID, DIFC, as well as under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. She has further provided pre-litigation/arbitral strategic advice to clients and is experienced in developing dispute avoidance strategies.
On the advisory front, Maria has negotiated and drafted complex commercial contracts and has valuable experience in contract, construction, IP/IT, and privacy law.

Maria is recognized as an Arbitration Future Leader for Greece by the Lexology Index (former Who’s Who Legal) (2026) and is included in the pool of Arbitrators of the Athens Mediation & Arbitration Organization (EODID).
She is also a researcher at the Athens Public International Law Center (Athens PIL) and the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) International Arbitration Moot Coach of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens Law School. She regularly participates in legal conferences in Greece and internationally, both as a speaker and as a participant.

Before joining CLF, Maria practiced arbitration and litigation at leading international and domestic law firms in Paris, Brussels, Dubai, and Athens.
She is a member of the Athens Bar Association since 2019, currently licensed to represent clients before the Court of Appeal.
