Professor’s Calavros speech covered the subject of the review by the Supreme Court of the award of compensation for non-material (moral) damages in case of tort/delict. Professor Calavros criticizes a recent ruling of the Supreme Court’s Plenary Session which indicates that this review should be carried out within the context of the principle of proportionality; while Professor Calavros suggests that such review should be carried out through the direct or indirect violation of the legal concept of reasonableness, foreseen in the provision of article 932 of the Greek Civil Code.
