Latest research has shown that currently, not only in Greece but also among other European countries the vast majority of loans have been categorized by Financial Institutions as Non-Performing Loans. Due to the increase of NPL’s worldwide, many institutions aim for an extrajudicial settlement with the NPL debtor while others tend to sell them to investors for a notably reduced price in order to decrease their risky assets and clean up their balance sheets
