Ιnstitutional arbitration by the Athens Bar Association (ABA)

The institutional arbitration administered by the Athens Bar Association (ABA) is currently under transformation. ABA appointed a Reform Committee consisting of prominent justices, academics and arbitration practitioners. The Committee is chaired by our Managing Partner, Professor Constantin Calavros. Our Partner, Assistant Professor Dimitris Babiniotis, serves as a member. The work of the Reform Committee was presented in a Conference held by ABA on May 29, 2018 in the grand auditorium of the Athens Court of Appeal. Professor Calavros in his speech referred to the shortcomings of the existing system and analyzed the key changes that the proposed draft legislation brings about. Dimitris Vervessos, President of ABA and of the Plenary of all Hellenic Bar Associations proclaimed ABA’s determination to move forward with the Reform, in order to put in place an effective system of institutional arbitration which is the only true alternative to State Court litigation.
