Our law firm successfully represented a credit institution in requesting and obtaining a judgment against the Greek State, obliging the latter to pay our Client the amount of appr. 780 k EUR plus legal interest and legal costs. The dispute arose from the forfeiture of a guarantee provided in favor of our Client by its contracting party as security for our Client’s claims under a Loan Agreement pursuant to the Greek Law 2322/1995 and which the Greek State has been refusing to pay since 2016. The case, although having been ruled upon in the first degree, is of great interest since the Court rejected all claims of the Greek State on the merits with a fully reasoned decision, in which it clearly addresses challenging issues arising from the application of Greek Law 2322/1995 regarding claims of credit institutions against the Greek State. Our client was represented by Mr. Themistoklis Kloukinas and Ms. Maria Chachami.
